CARING FOR YOUR CAMPAIGN SOFA FURNITURE

Here at Harp Studios we truly understand what it takes to handcraft a sofa from frame to finish.

Your sofa will be one of the most used pieces of furniture you have in your home so taking care of it and giving it as much love and care as we have since the beginning is something that is important to us.

We want your whole family to enjoy your sofa at all times, whilst keeping it looking as wonderful as possible for as long as possible. With this in mind we have a few hints and tips on how to love and care for your sofa so that you can enjoy it for years to come.

Cushion Plumping

Over time cushions will lose their plumpness, especially if you have a favourite comfortable spot, which let’s face it we all do. All cushions should be plumped regularly. To maintain their comfort give them a firm plump from the outside edges and where possible cushions should be turned regularly to prolong the life of both filing and fabric.

Frames

Our high-quality hardwood FSB beech frames are handcrafted in our frame shop and are assembled using screw and dowel construction. They come with a 30 year guarantee. Please see our full terms and conditions here.

Legs

It is also a good idea to give the legs of your sofa a clean occasionally. Use a damp cloth and warm water to wipe off any dust or dirt. We do not recommend using any detergent, but you may wish to polish them occasionally with a natural wax.

Location

All of our fabrics are tested to commercial level standard however all fabrics will fade over time, it’s part of the natural aging process. Where possible we would advise you to try not to place upholstery in your home where it might receive prolonged exposure to sunlight, as this can cause the fabric to fade prematurely.

Cleaning your fabric sofa

You should give your sofa a clean regularly to avoid a build-up of dirt and dust. Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft brush. If your sofa is in need of a deep clean, we recommend that you seek out a professional cleaning company rather than trying to do it yourself. It may be possible to wash or dry clean loose covers in accordance with the cleaning guidance.

Sofa Spills

It is inevitable that a spillage of some sort might happen. We would recommend that where possible you attend to any spillage as soon as possible to avoid damage. Soak up any liquid with a dry cloth or paper towel and blot up the surface liquid. If you have spilt something that has left a stain, it’s always best to ask for professional help when cleaning.

Velvet sofa care

One of the main features of velvet is its pile, depending on the way it moves it can change the appearance of the fabric and it will catch light in different directions. This is the nature of the fabric and is part of its beauty. As a result, it is not unusual for velvet to appear “crushed” when new. This can easily be resolved by brushing with a clothes brush to fluff the pile. Please do not worry this is part of the natural aging process and will not affect the durability or splendour of the product. More tips for maintaining velvet:

1. Always brush velvet in the direction of the pile.

2. Turn cushions regularly and gently brush.

3. Soak up liquids immediately by blotting with a dry cloth, this will help prevent water marks that cannot be removed, do not use detergent and do not rub or put pressure on the affected area – you might push in the stain deeper. Please dry clean only.
